Okay, judging from the 800+ comments on the news page, maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but...
Come ON. A power outage, completely beyond LJ's control, causes service to be down for less than half a day, and people are whining about being COMPENSATED? Dude. With what I imagine is a very small number of exceptions, it's not like LJ has anything to do with your job or business... it being down didn't COST you anything, except maybe some annoyance (like me) that you couldn't do something fun.
Oh, right, but that $2.50/month you're paying for 24/7 access. Okay, well... $2.50 divided by 30 days divided 24 hours times 8 hours downtime entitles you to... about 3 cents.
I swear, between fandom and LJ I have never seen more of a sense of entitlement.
